Plastic not so fantastic!

When I was picking out Perry the Renault garage had a Twizy in its showroom. It looked like a fun little vehicle, so as 'part of the deal' I was promised I could borrow the Twizy for a day. Today was that day. Perry had a nasty rattle (highly unusual for a French car *cough*) and while he was looked after by the car doctor, I got to drive the Twizy. I have to confess: it was a long day. The idea of a tiny electrical car with no windows sounded a bit along the lines of a convertible, with its opening on the sides, rather than on top. Boy, was I wrong. The thing doesn't deserve to be named in the same sentence as. Real cars. (Yes, I did that deliberately.) On the bright side: It made the neighbour's smart look like a proper car!

As you can see: I got the deluxe version: it has doors. No windows, but still, it's a start! Well, the start of a lot of plastic. Both on the inside and the outside.

See that counter in the middle? You'd think that's a pretty nice speed for such a tiny thing, but that's the speed in kilometers per hour! No matter what you try, not even downhill and downwind, it won't go over 83 km/h (+/- 55 mph). I was even overtaken by a truck, how humiliating is that? So no way am I ever going to drive one of these on the highway!

If you feel you're not getting enough attention, this might be the ideal car though. It's such an unusual sight, that people actually stop in the street to have a look, or sprain their necks to see what that plastic bauble is...

The red thing is not a tail. Nor is it a trailer. It's hubby's travel bike. Which (I kid you not) is actually bigger than the sort-of-car!

Speaking of hubby: he thought the Twizy was kind of cute. Which resulted in me letting him pick up Perry so I didn't have to drive the silly thing anymore, as well as a few hilarious pictures:

VROOOOOOMMM!!!!
